Jordan McTavish is one of our former gardeners, he was involved in our community garden since the beginning of the 2007 season.
Symmetry Films is the fun work he does "on a rainy day". He makes movies and has just received a grant from Corus Entertainment to write a horror/western feature set during the Klondike gold rush! As well, production on Time Lapse Toronto has begun with new webisodes to be released online in October 2008!
.
His adventure in 2009 was to go to Africa with Lifewater Canada to film their visit to build a water system for a village.
.
Since 2006, SymmetryFilms has produced volumes of photography and video media; We have branded ourselves on Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and on our own website, SymmetryFilms.com; We are also a YouTube partner, and active on a variety of media websites. Dear Susan, Its lovely to hear from you again. The guy who got the job is happy and well and shaking things up at Fuji Eco-park, japan. It would be great, it would really encorage him, if you had a look at his new blog, and gave some comments. Maybe we will see you at fuji ecopark in the future.
If you ever need balcony gardening advice, don't hesitate to write! I need pics of inspiring places, so need to help people to get them.
The more we network, the richer our lives become.
all the best, Cecilia

· An ethical design system for creating sustainable human culture.
· The conscious design of cultivated ecosystems that have the diversity, stability and resilience of natural environments
· A system that neither exploits nor pollutes: instead it provides for the harmonious integration of individuals into the landscape in such a way that the land grows in richness, productivity and aesthetic beauty.
· The design of homes, farms and towns modeled on the intricately balanced relationships seen in the natural world.

In times of need, we often look to our neighbours for support. That was the case again in the South Junction neighbourhood, where residents organized a fundraiser for families involved in the fire that took place on Franklin Avenue in early January, but it was also an opportunity for friends to get out of the house, have some fun and try to “Beat the Winter Blues”.

The fundraiser, held at Davenport Perth Community Church, was organized by folks from the community who, after hearing that Councillor Adam Giambrone had set up a trust fund for the victims of the fire, asked if there was something more the community could do.

The Perth Dupont community Garden has been in full swing all season. Now that the fall is here, it is nice to reflect on how the summer went. We are a group of about 20 gardeners that got together to form a community garden out of the garden that the City Councillor placed here last year. Read More >>
To the gardeners at the Perth Dupont community garden.
Congratulation on a beautiful and successful community garden! It sounds like you have taken an unused, drab space and brought it to life for every one in the neighbourhood.

The Perth Dupont Community Garden is made up of about 30 gardeners. We are a multi-cultural group - single people, and families, with ethnic and lifestyle diversity. We have 22 plots, most of them are 10' x 20', but a few are 10' x 10'. Plot 19 is our charity plot. We have a tool shed of course, and a collection of garden tools. We have the Front Flower Bed, and the Butterfly Garden in the back. We also have the Alkaline Garden near the tennis courts. By the season end of 2007 we plan to finish a raised garden bed. The young people from the H.O.P.E. garden came to help out in the sharing garden back in July 2007. They helped us harvest some of the produce like beets and broccoli greens and some herbs. They also helped transplant and thin out some of the other things growing in the garden like the onions and leeks.
We placed the harvested produce into buckets of cold water, a technique I learned from them, to help the food stay fresh until we are able it deliver it. We had a refreshing Vegetarian snack and fruit juice too, to give us energy.
After that, we packed the food into boxes and bags, and with the wagon in tow, we went up to the Stop to deliver it. 55 pounds of good organic vegetables and herbs.
